2012: Golden Jubilee Whoo-Wee!

I remember, when I was a little boy, in 1977  the Queen’s Silver Jubilee (25th anniversary of her becoming queen) it was a big affair.  Britain was in the economic doldrums, but still there were street parties, TV programmes, newspapers full of our good queen Bess’ antics.

25 years year, 2012, and the atmosphere was very different.  Some people made an effort (Union flags, stuff like the little demonstration of loyalty in the photo below) but it was so underkey.  Some people have tried to blame it on the economic downturn… but 1977 was a crap time too.

Anyway: for purely historical interest: fly the flag!

1977 we thought we’re going to heaven, but by 2012 we were on our way to hell…

I’m back!

Thought I’d been somewhere?  I haven’t… but all this online juggling stuph I tried to do didn’t work out.

Anyway, 2016.  Let’s see if I can keep my posting level up a bit eh?

Here’s one of my dog Deedee.  One of the last, I’m afraid.  In coming posts I’ll show other photos and tell you the story of what happened with my dog.

Keeping fit by the Worcester & Birmingham Canal

Some people jog to keep fit.  I find that watching other people jog is plenty exercise for me…

Check you’ve still got your cash and plastic.  But don’t make it too obvious that you’re checking…

Of course, if you're *really* concerned, have a word with my feline friend. One glance and you've got roast duck for dinner...

Of course, if you’re *really* concerned, have a word with my feline friend. One glance and you’ve got roast duck for dinner…  Yummy…

Face facts people: You may be robbed by delinquent ducks, or fried by mutant cats’ laser-eyes… but then again a bus driver might lose control of his vehicle and squish you when you’re safe and sound on the pavement. Nowhere is safe. Even the big, armour-plated Tyrannosaurus was taken out by an errant rock from outer space. The moral of this story: don’t bother getting out of bed, if you’re gonna suffer an horrific death you may as well be comfy when Death comes a-calling…

Delivery of a bus shelter

Finally, after thousands of would-be passengers died of rain and cold-related diseases, the bus company and/or local council agreed to putting a shelter to the bus stop…

This bus stop had no shelter for… well, forever. Many would-be bus passengers were washed away by the rain for many years. But, even though the bus route was unprofitable, and it ran only because the local authority insisted on it, someone finally decided to put up a shelter and protect the would-be passengers from hurricanes and torrential rains.

So now everyone is happy. Well, not quite everyone. I hardly ever use buses, being a walker and bike-rider. But I’m sure the new shelter will make millions of people happy…

Incidentally, for years I wanted a truck with a HIAB (Hydrauliska Indujstri AB) – a big robot arm. I had visions in my minds of using it to steal cars, which I’d then break into spares and sell off to unsuspecting car spare parts purchasers. But HIABs are expensive, big trucks are expensive, dreams are expensive… however, I’ve still got decades of life still in me. So if you have a truck and HIAB that you want to give to a worthwhile cause, look no further than me! I’ll take it off your hands, kindly vehicle-and-plant-machinery rehousing experts that I am…
